Donald Dust

Appearing out of nowhere in particular in 2017, Tom Banks aka Donald Dust's debut 12” for No Bad Days and subsequent cameos for Bordello A Parigi and Paradise Palms introduced the world to his musical sphere: WBMX radio mixes, Ron Hardy drum tracks, the golden era of 80s synthwave and the rawer fledgling sounds of Eurodisco influenced House circling and overlapping in his productions and DJ sets.

In 2018, Donald Dust launched his own label Enter Planet Dust with a 7” of genre-bending DJ tools mining the depths of Youtube modular synth demos, Adam & Fleisner SFX and disco drum 12”s. He also began his Other Thumpers radio show on EH-FM and DJed in the UK and Europe. 2019 saw him mangling a dollar-bin Surf Disco sample for a second solo release on Enter Planet Dust, before joining London’s Claptrap to release a four track 12” of dance tracks inspired by golden era Italo, Chicago Synth House and The Hague’s 90s Disco elite. Remixes for PBR Streetgang on their Kurtz 12” imprint and Lithuania’s Zakmina on San Francisco’s Roam Recordings followed. He recorded guest DJ mixes for Rinse FM and was joined by Edinburgh’s Nightlark to weave together an hour long mix of South African vocoder jams, proto-House acapellas, private edits and more for Bordello A Parigi’s Bordello Radio podcast. A 12” for Leipzig’s Blaq Numbers in early 2020 saw him paired with Mood Hut cofounder Local Artist on remix duties and his latest 12" for Wilson Records is out now.
