Born in Rome and now based in Milan, the Italian capital of fashion and design, Isabella (aka Matisa) has been steadily refining her sound, creating a unique blend of bright, bubbling energy with deep emotion. Her music is inspired by a passion for discovering forgotten gems across genres, and this drive to push boundaries is evident in everything she creates. Her approach to music consistently surprises, bringing unexpected twists and a playful energy that invites listeners to lose themselves in the moment.
Matisa’s journey into music started in her mid-teens when she began DJing. After earning a degree in Political Science and considering a career in government, she felt a pull toward her more creative side, which led her to pursue a Master’s in Fashion Product Management at Polimoda, one of the top fashion schools in the world. This new direction allowed her to explore her creativity, while also grounding her in the worlds of fashion and design. Since releasing her debut EP on Optimo Music in 2019, Matisa has released tracks with respected labels like !K7, On Loop, Permanent Vacation, Butter Sessions, Running Back, Public Possession, Correspondant, Gudu, Slacker85, and more. Her dynamic and unpredictable sound has garnered attention and support from influential DJs such as Dixon, Seth Troxler, Ben UFO, Moxie, Jennifer Cardini, Gerd Janson, Bradley Zero, Nicola Cruz and Peggy Gou.
